在加拿大做程序員是一種怎樣的體驗(yàn)？

水貨程序員不請(qǐng)自來，目前就職多倫多IBM。

以下答案基于答主個(gè)人經(jīng)歷，包含主觀判斷，我來安利一下IBM。

首先說工作環(huán)境。

IBM在多倫多有幾個(gè)office，包括downtown也有。我在Markham的lab，環(huán)境優(yōu)美。

樓層不高，一共4層，周圍綠樹成蔭，還有一條小河 || 小溪穿過。

公司在highway7 and Warden Ave，交通便利，周圍道路堵車的情況比較少，當(dāng)然如果像答主一樣，每天開401來上班，路上花的時(shí)間也不少。

再說說硬件設(shè)備，我入職的時(shí)候是只有Thinkpad W系列的筆記本可選，之后換成MacBook pro了，現(xiàn)在新入職的時(shí)候可以自由選擇Thinkpad或者M(jìn)acBook了。顯示器是沒有的，這點(diǎn)確實(shí)很不方便，沒有多屏工作起來效率受影響。

樓里設(shè)施很豐富，有健身房，還有布置的不同裝修風(fēng)格的休息的地方，改天可以上照片。多數(shù)人是擁有自己的cube，傳統(tǒng)美國(guó)公司風(fēng)格，隔斷高度超過身高。

說完硬件和環(huán)境，再說說具體一點(diǎn)的日常工作吧。

先**播一點(diǎn)感想吧，我覺得找工作的時(shí)候，對(duì)于小公司就是要看公司情況怎么樣，對(duì)于大公司就要看team了。因?yàn)榇蠊窘M織龐大，部門眾多，每天打交道的都是周圍的同事和一些相關(guān)team的人。自己team的manager的管理風(fēng)格，team負(fù)責(zé)的產(chǎn)品在自己部門和公司的地位，基本決定了你日常工作是否舒心，順心；也直接決定了職業(yè)發(fā)展。尤其是大公司里面的邊緣部門，地位比較尷尬，公司業(yè)績(jī)不好的時(shí)候，朝不保夕，人心慌慌。在小公司，沒有那么多繁復(fù)的制度，個(gè)人的影響力會(huì)相對(duì)大一些，幾個(gè)人一商量覺得主意不錯(cuò)，可能就開工試錯(cuò)迭代了。在大公司，一個(gè)擁有幾十萬員工的超級(jí)復(fù)雜系統(tǒng)，已經(jīng)不是任何一個(gè)個(gè)人可以控制的了，也只能依靠制度來進(jìn)行管理，所以有時(shí)會(huì)出現(xiàn)一層一層approve的情況。

從我們部門來說，產(chǎn)品雖然不是業(yè)界老大，但是處于上升階段。平時(shí)工作氛圍比較輕松，當(dāng)然可能個(gè)別時(shí)候比較忙，但是工作強(qiáng)度和國(guó)內(nèi)來說是完全沒法比的，加班更是沒有的。每天工作時(shí)間靈活，有人早來早走，也有人晚來晚走。從開發(fā)流程來說，大體是采用scrum的agile方式，但是并不是教科書式的scrum實(shí)踐。

因?yàn)镮BM歷史悠久，許多工具都有自己研發(fā)的產(chǎn)品，比如IBM有自己的java，自己的CVS工具，甚至連聊天工具都有自己的sametime。不過現(xiàn)在處在過渡階段，也開始擁抱“新”東西了，比如用slack，用Github，盡管這些在許多地方早已廣泛使用多年，但是對(duì)于有著多年成熟開發(fā)模式的公司來說，改變只能是一點(diǎn)一點(diǎn)的推行。

最后再說說薪資待遇吧。 從答主自己感覺還有g(shù)lassdoor上的信息來看，IBM的工資水平在大多倫多地區(qū)算是中等水平吧。沒有亞馬遜高，和滑鐵盧的Google更比不了?？紤]到工作強(qiáng)度的因素，其實(shí)差距倒是沒有那么大，據(jù)說亞馬遜的on call導(dǎo)致員工幸福度很低？不知道是不是這樣。

和在downtown的銀行相比，IBM的工程師文化更強(qiáng)。在銀行工作時(shí)，總感覺程序員就是被當(dāng)作工具，尤其是front office的交易員脾氣都很大， 有的BA也并不友善。

其他待遇方面，每年15天假期，為了和美國(guó)的假期match，額外還有兩天floater day。平時(shí)公司內(nèi)部也常有各種活動(dòng)。另外DCPP的話，公司最多match 4%

最后再安利一下，IBM是一家歷史悠久的科技公司，同時(shí)代創(chuàng)立的公司多數(shù)都已經(jīng)消失在歷史中了。而IBM曾經(jīng)站在浪潮之巔，給業(yè)界做出許多貢獻(xiàn)，時(shí)代變遷之后，努力調(diào)整適應(yīng)數(shù)次挺過寒冬，幾經(jīng)沉浮依然屹立不倒，這本身就值得尊敬了。

IBM面向普通消費(fèi)者的業(yè)務(wù)，現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)很少了，所以許多人都對(duì)它不太了解。現(xiàn)在火熱的云計(jì)算，大數(shù)據(jù)，人工智能等等，IBM都做了大量投入并且也取得了許多成果，有興趣的可以了解一下。
