在游戲中，你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)城墻上都布滿了守衛(wèi)，這是設(shè)計(jì)師對(duì)真實(shí)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的一種理解，他們認(rèn)為建造一個(gè)防御塔，在里面放置幾個(gè)射手是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不夠的，真實(shí)的防御應(yīng)該從城墻開始，那里往往是突破口，也是攻城戰(zhàn)最激烈的位置，因此游戲中的城墻并不是一堵普通的城墻，城墻頂端的任何位置都可以派遣射手進(jìn)行守衛(wèi)。為了體現(xiàn)更真實(shí)的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)，游戲并沒(méi)有士兵數(shù)量的設(shè)定，只要玩家擁有足夠多的資源就可生產(chǎn)出無(wú)限的士兵，設(shè)計(jì)師認(rèn)為真實(shí)的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)就是人多欺負(fù)人少，只有數(shù)量存在差異性才能夠讓處于劣勢(shì)的一方采取合理的戰(zhàn)術(shù)來(lái)應(yīng)付，這個(gè)設(shè)定也要求玩家必須合理控制資源和利用資源，游戲中還有很多設(shè)定與平常的即時(shí)戰(zhàn)略有所不同，，不管這些設(shè)定是否合理，但它們都是設(shè)計(jì)師們對(duì)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的理解，目的就是為了呈現(xiàn)一個(gè)真實(shí)的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)。另外，雖然游戲中不存在英雄角色，但士兵存在等級(jí)系統(tǒng)，能夠在戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)中存活的士兵就是精英，他們的數(shù)據(jù)肯定要與普通士兵有所區(qū)別，所有士兵分為三個(gè)等級(jí)，輕型、中型和重型，士兵的武器也具有多樣化，玩家可為士兵們選擇武器，如斧頭、刀劍、弓箭等等，讓戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)變得更具有層次感。
